If you have not yet linked your Aadhaar number to a bank account, mobile phone or any other government service then do not worry. Actually, the Supreme Court has increased the deadline for linking Aadhaar number with various services. The hearing was done in the country's largest court on Tuesday for base linking. During this crucial hearing, the court clearly stated that unless linking to the decision on it, then base linking with various services is not mandatory.

The Constitutional Bench of five Supreme Court judges, headed by Chief Justice Deepak Mishra, said that the government can not force anybody on base linking. However, the court also said that the time limit of base link in beneficiary schemes and subsidy matters will be implemented as before.

If you have not yet linked the base, then this news will give you relief. The government has extended the deadline to link the base with the Welfare Scheme on Wednesday. On behalf of the government it was said that the last date for linking the Aadhaar with welfare schemes has now been increased from 3 months to 30th June. Earlier this Deadline was March 31. Following the government's decision, MNRE and PDS beneficiaries are expected to benefit. Earlier, the CBDT has extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar number with PAN till June 30. The first pan was to link till 31 March. The time limit has been increased from the CBDT for the fourth time.

It is believed that after the extension of the link to the PAN, it is being believed that the latest order of CBDT has come in the wake of the order passed by the Supreme Court this month. The court had ordered the extension of the deadline of March 31 to link the base with various other services. The Government has made it mandatory for the filing of income tax returns and to give the new Aadhaar numbers to the new pan.

For the first time on July 1, 2017, the government had made it mandatory to add the base to the pan. For the first time, it was extended up to August 31, 2017 and later on 31 December 2017 due to difficulties faced by taxpayers. Many taxpayers did not complete the work of connecting the base with the pan till December 31, after which the government had extended the deadline till March 31 this year.

Supreme Court intervened
At the beginning of this month, the Supreme Court had extended the deadline for the purpose to connect various services with the basis in the beginning of this month, unless the verdict on the petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the biometric identification scheme was not heard. During the hearing, the government had told the Supreme Court that it could consider raising the date of connecting mobile phones and bank accounts with various government schemes, if necessary.
