Since then, it's been an endless cycle of doctor's appointments and difficult therapeutic work. Recently, Will was admitted to an in-patient rehabilitation center that focuses on improving the quality of life for those with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries.
Will was born and raised in the Orlando area and wanted to be a police officer since he was in middle school. Now 31, he joined OPD in 2007. His favorite part of the job is helping people and forgings bonds with fellow officers.
Those bonds have helped Will and his wife of four years, Jessica, through this extraordinarily difficult time. The Anderson's have have a nearly 2-year-old daughter, Abby, whom Will has been unable to lift up since he was injured.
Jessica wants other law enforcement families to use her family's story as reminder to prepare for the possibility of a severe on-duty injury.
As of March 30: 29 officers have been killed and dozens more gravely injured in the line of duty nationwide so far this year.
